Beautiful skin complexion in a woman

Five golden rules to healthy skin

These simply rules form the foundation of every good skin care regime:

1. Exfoliate your skin

Sad but true, cell turnover starts to slow down after you reach 30, which can leave your skin dull, so it's key to exfoliate regularly. Get regular skin peels and medi-facials to maintain vibrant, glowing smooth skin.

2. Use sun protection

Sun damage plays the greatest role in the appearance of ageing as it directly leads to freckles, sun spots, pigmentation and wrinkles.

This doesn't mean you can't have fun in the sun, but always wear sun protection - we recommend Heliocare because of its advanced protection. Using self-tan products is a terrific way to top up that sun kissed look, but never use sunbeds.

Don't totally avoid the sun, as it plays an important role in helping your body create Vitamin D, which is essential in keeping you healthy and in a positive frame of mind.

3. ACE your skin care

The quality of what you put on your skin makes a huge difference. Use skin care that contains stable forms of Vitamin A, C and E. When used correctly Vitamin A helps build collagen to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.  Vitamin C helps to reduce skin pigmentation and Vitamin E helps protect your skin from free radical damage.

4. Feed your skin

Healthy skin starts from the inside out. Eat foods rich in Omega-3, Vitamin A, C, and E to provide your skin with vitamins and nutrients needed for collagen and elastin production to maintain that youthful look. Avoid excessive consumption of caffeine and alcohol which dehydrates your skin making it look dry and dull.

5. Don't smoke

Stop smoking as it causes the formation of age-inducing free radicals and rapidly dehydrates the skin increasing the formation of wrinkles and lines. Smoking also aggravates acne and rosacea.
